Use of data in Statistical Process control

Data collection is done through Measurement or readings in Product, Process or Service

The data is recorded. Various types of control charts are used -depend upon, which type of data are being collected.

 It's important to use correct type of chart  for effective outcome & receive useful information

Variable Data

• Individual : Moving Range chart: 

When data is individual values

• Xbar – R chart: 

When, Recording data in sub-groups of 8 or less

• Xbar – S chart: 

When,  sub-group size is greater than 8

Attribute data

• P chart – 

When,  recording the number of defective parts in a group of parts

• U chart – 

When,  recording the number of defects in each part
